Tottenham v Wolves teams: Spurs duo dropped and there’s no Lloris

Tottenham defenders Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen have been dropped by boss Jose Mourinho and goalkeeper Hugo Lloris is not in the matchday squad because he has a groin injury.

Mourinho makes four changes in total: Paulo Gazzaniga is in goal and there are recalls for Dele Alli, Serge Aurier and Eric Dier.

Alderweireld and Vertonghen are joined on the bench by Tanguy Ndombele, who has also been dropped from the starting line-up.

  1. LLoris is not a surprise had he been fit. He does not inspire that defence with confidence and his exploits in the WC Final against Croatia portrays his misguided self confidence. Sold Alderweireld short against Villa for that own goal recently.
A liability and so far from that sweeper keeper we bought him for.
Perhaps his age is catching up FAST but we need to replace him with quality.
The other two dropped Belgians … Alderweireld is the surprise omission though I suspect (hope) its just a loss of form for the two.
