Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United are expected to continue reshaping their attack following an encouraging start to pre-season.
With Matheus Cunha now fully integrated within the group, United fans have welcomed the energy and flair he brings to the number 10 role.
The Red Devils’ recruitment drive has already seen key exits and arrivals, with Amorim stressing the importance of tactical versatility ahead of the new campaign.
Having worn the number 10 shirt at Wolves, Cunha’s departure left a gap not only in Vitor Pereira’s system but in identity — a gap the Midlands club have now moved swiftly to fill.
And now, Wolves have officially confirmed, via the clubs website, the arrival of Colombian international Jhon Arias, completing a four-year deal from Fluminense with an option for a further 12 months.
The 27-year-old attacker arrives in the Premier League after a standout showing at the Club World Cup in the United States, where he earned Player of the Match honours against Borussia Dortmund, Ulsan HD and Inter Milan.
He has inherited the number 10 shirt recently vacated by Matheus Cunha.
Arias joins the Old Gold with a decorated CV — 31 international caps for Colombia, over 100 domestic appearances in his home country, and a Copa Libertadores crown with Fluminense, where he racked up 229 appearances and 102 goal contributions.
During his time in Brazil, Arias earned a reputation as a set-piece specialist and creative force, often donning the captain’s armband and dictating play in advanced roles.
His most prolific season came in 2022, where he registered 16 goals and 17 assists and lifted the Guanabara Cup.
Now reunited with former teammates Andre and Yerson Mosquera, Arias becomes a key part of Wolves’ plan to rebuild their forward line following Cunha’s move to Manchester.
While Old Trafford welcomes a proven Premier League attacker in Cunha, Wolves will hope Arias’ South American pedigree translates to English football as the Premier League season edges closer.
With the number 10 shirt now passed on, the transfer chain between Wolves and United continues to shape the league’s attacking narratives.
