Manchester United may have found stability with Casemiro at the base of midfield last season, but questions still linger over the long-term plan.

The Brazilian veteran produced a strong second half of the 2024-25 campaign, playing a key role in United’s Europa League run and featuring regularly under Ruben Amorim.

Despite reporting for pre-season training last week and showing no signs of immediate exit, Casemiro’s contract runs until 2026.

His age suggests the Red Devils are planning for life beyond the 33-year-old.

Amorim has already been tipped to add a new midfielder to his squad this summer.

Especially with Manchester United aiming to rebuild in key areas after finishing 15th in the Premier League.

Manchester City’s Tyrese Noubissie has circulated online over the weekend, with United interested in a potential deal.

Another name is Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton – although Thomas Frank’s Tottenham are also in the race to sign the Englishman.

According to Corriere dello Sport, the Red Devils are now monitoring Wolves midfielder Andre, seen by some as a long-term heir to Casemiro.

The Brazilian joined Wolves from Fluminense on deadline day last summer and quickly established himself as a regular.

He made 36 appearances in all competitions in his debut Premier League season.

Andre, who amassed 197 games for Fluminense, is tied down at Molineux until 2029.

Wolves are believed to value the 22-year-old at around £35 million, according to Corriere dello Sport’s report.

United face competition from Liverpool and Juventus.

The latter of whom may well begin talks with Andre’s representatives as a replacement for Douglas Luiz, who has himself been linked with a move to Old Trafford.

The race for Andre’s signature is expected to heat up soon.

All three clubs are seeing the Brazil international as a valuable long-term investment in midfield.
