Manchester United’s summer rebuild under Ruben Amorim is picking up pace as the transfer window nears.
Preparations for the 2025/26 season are underway, with a major focus on securing early reinforcements to avoid the drawn-out sagas that plagued previous windows.
With several players departing on free transfers and others deemed surplus to requirements, United are targeting high-impact, low-cost solutions across key areas.

One of those areas is right-back – and it could soon be addressed in a surprise double raid.
Manchester United are closing in on the signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers, and talks between the clubs have opened the door for a second name to be discussed – Nelson Semedo.
The Brazilian forward is expected to join United permanently after a standout campaign at Molineux, with the club ready to trigger his release clause.
During negotiations for Cunha, Nelson Semedo’s name was raised internally, with the 31-year-old right-back emerging as a viable free-agent option, as per Football Transfers.

Nelson Semedo is set to leave Wolves when his contract expires at the end of June, despite being offered a four-year extension by the Midlands side.
He was given an emotional send-off during the club’s final home match, where fans showed their appreciation for his leadership and consistency.
A former Barcelona man, Semedo has made over 180 appearances for Wolves since joining for €32 million in 2020 and is viewed as a Premier League-proven veteran who could provide depth and experience at Old Trafford.
United are yet to reach a formal agreement with Semedo, but the opportunity to land two seasoned performers from the same club – one for free – is being seen as smart business.
Amorim is believed to value Semedo’s familiarity with Cunha, with the pair potentially playing key roles in United’s evolving system.
If a deal materialises, it would represent a cost-effective coup for United as they attempt to close the gap to the Premier League’s elite.
