Manchester United are in the market for a quality striker this summer, with the club now contacting Napoli reject Victor Osimhen.

The Nigerian striker has been on loan with Galatasaray for the last season, cast away from Napoli with Antonio Conte not seeing him feature in his plans.

However, this has been a spectacular move for Osimhen who’s scored 33 goals and grabbed eight assists in 37 games.

Osimhen’s contributions have been a defining factor for the Turkish side, being the club’s top goal scorer by 21 goals to help hold the top spot in the Super Lig and get through to the final of the Turkiye Kupasi.

With the striker being very much in-form, it’s no surprise that Europe’s elite are looking to the star, with United also keen on his signature.

Previously it was reported that The Red Devils have no interest in Osimhen this summer, however the club seem to have now made a U-turn on this attitude.

Manchester United look to Victor Osimhen

Manchester United have contacted Osimhen, seeing him as an upgrade from current strikers Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee who have failed to provide consistency up front.

However, Santi Aouna have now revealed the full financial implications of taking on the prolific goal scorer.

It’s understood that Osimhen is looking for a salary of £10.2 million a year which works out as roughly £196,000 per week.

With United’s financial struggles, it’s not yet known how they feel about this demand.

Currently the club has Casemiro and Marcus Rashford on salaries of over £300,000 per week, trying to sell the pair to free up their wage budget.

However, it’s also known that the contract negotiations with Kobbie Mainoo have faltered with the midfielder wanting £200,000 per week, which United were not agreeing to.

If United are going to sign Osimhen, they may have to accept biting the bullet and coughing up more than they plan for the star, especially with interest coming from across Europe and Saudi Arabia.
