Manchester United’s squad management has been under intense scrutiny this summer, with Ruben Amorim juggling multiple high-profile departures and arrivals.

The early part of the season has already seen the club make significant adjustments, particularly in attack, while also monitoring defensive depth.

Fans have been keenly watching who will remain at Old Trafford and who will move on, with the so-called “bomb squad” a constant talking point.

Deadline-day drama brought several departures, but the fallout has left certain players in an uncertain position, prompting questions over squad harmony and tactical planning.

The ongoing international break only adds to the complexity, as clubs weigh fitness, rotation, and potential January moves.

Manchester United are now reportedly still searching for a way to offload Tyrell Malacia, as per ESPN, after a proposed move to Spanish side Elche collapsed late.

The Netherlands defender, 26, is currently the only member of the “bomb squad” left at the club without a confirmed transfer, while others have moved on: Alejandro Garnacho joined Chelsea, Jadon Sancho moved to Aston Villa on loan, and Antony returned to Real Betis.

Amorim has previously suggested that he remains open to reintegrating any of the exiled players if they are still at the club after the window closes.

However, ESPN indicate that the final decision on Malacia’s future rests with the manager, with United remaining receptive to a move to a league where the window is still open.

Potential destinations include Belgium (until Sept. 8), Turkey (until Sept. 12), and Saudi Arabia (until Sept. 23), keeping late exit options alive.

The goalkeeping department has also seen movement, with the arrivals of Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp providing extra competition for the No. 1 spot, which could impact Andre Onana or Altay Bayindir should either depart before the respective windows close.

United are reportedly comfortable maintaining four senior goalkeepers this season, including 39-year-old Tom Heaton, partly to account for Onana’s potential absence at the Africa Cup of Nations in December.

For Tyrell Malacia, the coming days will be pivotal.

The defender remains in limbo, caught between the manager’s plans and the club’s willingness to allow a late exit.

United supporters will be watching closely to see whether a last-minute deal can be brokered or whether the Dutchman will be reintegrated into the squad for the early-season run of fixtures.
