Manchester United are on the brink of signing Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers, however won’t be able to sign him straight away when the transfer window opens on 1st June.
The Red Devils have been focused on signing Cunha for some time now, having agreed personal term with the striker to move to Old Trafford.
Not only is the move taking the Brazilian to one of the top clubs in the world, albeit not living up to that right now, but also see his net a hefty wage increase from £120,000 per week to £200,000 per week.
Cunha was reportedly unfazed by United’s lack of European football next season, but was attracted to the project of rebuilding the club.
All that was left was to agree terms with Wolves for the transfer to take place, which have finally gone through with United paying the £62.5 million release clause over two and a half years in £20.85 million instalments.
However, Ben Jacobs has reported that the deal will be delayed due to two key factors.

Visa hold up for Matheus Cunha
Firstly is the need for United to pay the first instalment and secondly is Cunha waiting for a visa.
All foreign players need a work visa to play in the UK, even after playing in the UK for years, as a result of the post-Brexit immigration system.
It’s understood that the main route for this is the International Sportsperson visa which lasts three years and can be extended. After five years on the visa, the player could be eligible to remain indefinitely.
As such, the Brazilian only needs a few more years on the visa, meaning in 2028, Cunha could be free of needing a visa.
Thankfully with visas being a common place in UK football, this minor issue should be resolved for United to sign Cunha on 1st July.
All on track with Matheus Cunha’s move to Man United. Regardless of when the deal is announced, Cunha’s contract may not start until July 1 to allow United to place the first instalment on the next financial year.
