Rasmus Hojlund was signed to be Manchester United’s No. 9 for the next decade.
Raw but highly promising, he was expected to grow into the role and become a consistent goalscorer.
After a bright first season, which included five Champions League goals, his progress has stalled.
Struggling with the Premier League’s physical demands, he has found it hard to hold the ball up, link play, or score regularly.
The arrival of Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig has cast further doubt over Hojlund’s future.
United, keen to raise funds for a new goalkeeper and midfield reinforcements this window, are now prepared to move him on.
They initially tried to include him in the deal for Sesko, but Hojlund turned it down.
However, with AC Milan now showing interest, his stance may be shifting.

According to Alex Crook, via TalkSport, AC Milan are in talks over Hojlund, who is valued at £40 million by Manchester United.
Milan, however, are slightly less keen on a permanent move for the striker, instead preferring a loan deal with a buy option clause included at the end of the season.
Hojlund’s stance on the deal has shifted since he rejected Leipzig, and with Sesko arriving, he may now have accepted that to get regular minutes next season he will likely need to leave the club.
There is still clear potential with Hojlund, but he needs a fresh start to truly unlock it—potentially in a new league away from the intense pressure of Old Trafford.
With AC Milan seeking a striker, Hojlund in need of a fresh start, and United eager to raise funds to complete their summer transfer plans, this could be a move that satisfies all parties involved.
