Manchester United have been active in the transfer market, having already secured the signings of Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee this window.
However, further arrivals are on hold until some players are sold.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka has verbally agreed on personal terms with West Ham United, and talks regarding the transfer fee and payment structure are in full swing.
Wan-Bissaka’s departure will pave the way for Manchester United to sign Noussair Mazraoui as his replacement.
The situation is similar in midfield, with United’s move for PSG midfielder Manuel Ugarte currently on ice.
Casemiro, Christian Eriksen, and Scott McTominay have all been mentioned as potential departures to free up room and funds for Ugarte’s arrival.
Regarding McTominay, Turkish giants Galatasaray are showing interest, as are Fulham. Fenerbahce and Everton are in the mix too.
According to multiple reports, Marco Silva’s side recently submitted a bid worth £23 million for the 27-year-old Scotland international.
Romano noted that United value McTominay at £30 million. The midfielder’s sale would be particularly lucrative for United given that McTominay is a homegrown player.
The proceeds from the sales of homegrown stars represent pure profit on the balance sheet.
Fulham are continuing to pursue McTominay and could return with an improved bid.
Tottenham show interest in McTominay
However, fresh reports suggest that Tottenham Hotspur could outbid their London rivals and hijack McTominay’s move.
Duncan Castles, a journalist from the Sunday Times, reports that Spurs are interested in a deal to sign the Scotland international.
The Spurs manager, Ange Postecoglou, is seeking a new midfielder who, according to The Athletic, will bring dynamism, energy, pressing ability, and a goal threat.
Following his career-best return of 10 goals last season, McTominay reportedly meets all the criteria Tottenham desire.
It remains to be seen if McTominay would be willing to move, but his contract expires next summer, and Spurs may look to drive his price down as a result.
