Manchester United are now reportedly set on raiding Sporting Lisbon with a deal going in to sign one of Ruben Amorim’s old stars.

The Portuguese manager moved to Old Trafford along with his team of coaches after turning the tides at Sporting, leading them to five trophies in four years.

Now, Amorim’s been brought to United, Sr Jim Ratcliffe and the United hierarchy are hoping that he can do the same at Old Trafford, with the club at it’s worst position in history in the Premier League and European football.

Whilst Amorim has been clear that it won’t be a quick fix, his squad appear to be rallying behind him, with players like Amad Diallo and Harry Maguire thriving in his system.

However, the Portuguese manager still has the respect of his former players, with some that are being scouted by United wanting to follow their former coach to the Premier League side.

Players like Viktor Gyokeres, Geovany Quenda and Ousmane Diomande have all shown interest in reuniting with Amorim when linked with moves to the club.

However, A Bola, has now reported that United are lining up their first signing from Amorim’s former team.

Geovany Quenda set to be Manchester United’s first signing for Manchester United

The Portuguese outlet has now reported that United are lining up a £50 million bid for Geovany Quenda, claiming “the transfer is certain”.

However, United fans will have to wait until the summer as Amorim is remaining true to his word of night signing any Sporting stars this January.

It was one of Amorim’s parting promises when leaving Lisbon, and as a man of his word, United are lining up this deal for the end of the season.
