Ruben Amorim is reportedly keen to reunite with one of his former Sporting CP players amidst United’s current transfer struggles.
So far during this summer’s transfer window, Manchester United have seemingly struggled to land their top targets, with several players believed to have turned down a move to Old Trafford.
Earlier in the window, Ruben Amorim’s focus was on securing a new number nine to lead the line for United next season.
However, after failed attempts to sign Viktor Gyokeres, Hugo Ekitike and Victor Osimhen, it seems the Portuguese boss is turning his attentions elsewhere.
The Red Devils have still only secured two deals this summer, Matheus Cunha from Wolves and Paraguayan full-back Diego Leon.
Not the type of transfers United fans would hoping for at this point in July with the beginning of the Premier League season only a month away.

Manchester United have also had several bids rejected by Brentford for their forward, Bryan Mbeumo.
The Cameroonian striker finished last season’s campaign as Brentford’s top scorer, which sparked the interests of several Premier League clubs.
Mbeumo has rejected an approach from Tottenham as the Brentford man wants only United this summer.
Personal terms will not be an issue, but the Bees seem to be continuously upping their asking price, the reported price is now around £70 million.

As well as improving his forward line, Ruben Amorim is searching for a new midfielder to add depth to his United squad.
In recent months, Danish midfielder, Morten Hjulmand, has been occasionally linked with a move to Old Trafford.
Now, according to a Stretty News exclusive, the Dane is considered to be a priority for United.
Previously, the Reds were linked to Atalanta’s Ederson who appeared to be higher on Ineos’ priority list.
However, it now seems like the Denmark international will take precedence and United will step up their chase for the midfield man.
The 26-year-old began his career at FC Copenhagen before transferring to Austria.
Following a spell in Austria the Dane joined Italian side Lecce, and during his time in Italy he caught the attention of Ruben Amorim at Sporting CP.
Amorim reportedly requested Sporting sign the defensive midfielder which led to him joining the Portuguese side in 2023.
Hjulmand is renowned for his ability to shield the backline and provide protection in defensive transition.
It seems Amorim is now looking to reunite with Morten Hjulmand as the Portuguese manager seeks the signature of a new defensive midfielder.
