With the season coming to a close following the FA Cup Final, we see the departure of those loaned into the club and the return of those loaned out, back hoping to make their way into the squad.

One individual who has come to the end of their loan spell is Moroccan midfielder Sofyan Amrabat.

Truth be told, it’s been a tough loan as Amrabat has experienced a difficult season at Old Trafford. Coming on loan from Serie A side Fiorentina, the defensive midfielder has primarily been a substitute in ten Hag’s plans, having only made ten starts.

However, Amrabat has shown real potential and massive improvement towards the end of the season, including in United’s unexpected win over Manchester City in the FA Cup Final.

Having been a part of the team that secured victory in the final and therefore European football next season in the UEFA Europa League, many fans are changing their mind about the 27-year-old.

United have already spent £8 million on the player with the initial loan deal and have the option of signing him permanently for £21 million which could be sealed in the coming transfer window.

Before his recent performances, many believed that United would not be looking at that as an option. However, Amrabat’s form as well as continued speculation around the future of Casemiro, seems to have left many wondering if that position will change.

Now, Amrabat has commented on his potential future in Manchester.

The Standard has reported that Amrabat himself has come forward to say, “Staying is certainly an option.”

He continued to say, “I think it has been a very difficult season.

“For Manchester United it needs to be much better, and also for me personally.”

Ultimately the decision on Amrabat’s future could depend on the managerial situation due to play out at United. Erik ten Hag’s position is reportedly under review following a poor performance in the England Premier League and UEFA Champions League.

However, Amrabat may just have played his way back into consideration after seemingly been on course to return back to Italy.
