Manchester United’s long-running striker search finally came to an end earlier this summer with the blockbuster signing of Benjamin Sesko.
That arrival brought relief to fans after weeks of speculation, but it also placed huge doubts over the future of Rasmus Hojlund.
The Danish striker, who initially stated his desire to fight for his place at Old Trafford, has since become more open to a move away as his minutes are expected to be limited.
AC Milan have been closely linked with Hojlund throughout recent weeks.
Recent reports outlined a payment structure involving a loan deal with an obligation to buy as part of their proposal.
Now, Sky Sports Germany on X reports Milan have made significant progress on a different front, reaching an agreement with Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface.
According to Sky, Milan submitted an official loan offer with an option to buy within the last 48 hours.
And Leverkusen are leaning towards accepting it.
The deal comes as Bayer’s new coach Erik ten Hag is fully backing Patrik Schick to lead his attack.
Thus, meaning Boniface could be allowed to leave if the terms are right.
Sky’s sources add that Boniface has already agreed personal terms with Milan on a long-term contract, smoothing the path for the move.
Should the deal be finalised, it would be a major addition for Milan’s new sporting director Igli Tare, who has been leading negotiations.
With United’s Sesko secured and Milan closing in on Boniface, Hojlund’s situation continues to attract attention ahead of what could be a decisive week for his future.
