The race for Alejandro Garnacho is certainly heating up, with Chelsea entering the fray to compete with Napoli.

Garnacho had a breakthrough season last year, sealing the 2024 Puskas Award and a nomination for the 2024 Golden Boy Award.

As a key part of Erik ten Hag’s side, the winger looked set for yet another impressive season, adding the Copa America to his trophy cabinet in the summer.

However, with ten Hag gone and Ruben Amorim now in charge, Garnacho has found himself as more of an impact substitute rather than a starting player.

With this change in status in the squad and United’s intense financial pressures, top European clubs have been monitoring the star, with Napoli emerging as the front-runner.

The Azzurri are looking to Garnacho as Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s successor, Antonio Conte is keen to seal a deal.

The Argentine has already verbally agreed to a deal for five years with annual increases to his salary starting at £2.5 million per year.

However, with Napoli’s initial bid of £40 million being rejected by United, Chelsea have now declared interest in the star.

Manchester United do not want to sell Alejandro Garnacho

Sky Sports has now revealed that despite the intense interest, United don’t want to part ways with their talented youngster.

The club are open to offers of over £60 million, however, this could well be a way of deterring clubs from negotiating for the winger.

United’s openness to considering a substantial bid for their prized youngster comes from their financial struggles with Profit and Sustainability Rules.

As such, selling players like Garnacho, along with Kobbie Mainoo and Marcus Rashford, would be a huge financial boost for the club with them considered as pure profit as they come from United’s academy.

It’s unknown if Napoli intends to increase their bid for the 20-year-old, or if they’ll look at alternatives. However, it will take a lot to get United to agree to selling him this January.
