Manchester United have been busy monitoring potential midfield reinforcements as the transfer window heads into its final hours.

Ruben Amorim’s side have been assessing options to add depth and creativity to the middle of the park, especially with key players carrying heavy workloads early in the season.

The Premier League’s top clubs are also active in pursuit of midfield talent, with competition for emerging stars intensifying as clubs scramble to complete deals before today’s transfer deadline.

Reports have suggested that United are exploring several alternatives, balancing experience with younger players who could adapt quickly to the demands of English football.

Attention has particularly focused on players who can offer versatility, vision, and energy in midfield, qualities that Manchester United hope to inject into their squad.

United were after Carlos Baleba before Brighton refused to sell the Cameroonian.

Now, one player who has been linked with United in recent hours is Conor Gallagher, the England international currently at Atletico Madrid.

Conor Gallagher, 25, joined the La Liga side from Chelsea just a year ago but has reportedly been made available at a £45 million asking price.

According to CaughtOffside, Manchester United are among several clubs keeping close tabs on Gallagher, alongside Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United, and Crystal Palace.

CaughtOffside indicate that all these clubs have expressed interest in the midfielder, keen to bring his Premier League experience back to England.

United’s scouts reportedly see him as a potential solution to provide both dynamism and attacking support in Amorim’s system.

However, despite the reported interest, Sky Sports have now clarified that the likelihood of Gallagher leaving Atletico Madrid today is extremely slim.

Sky Sports suggest that the Spanish club are not actively seeking a replacement and are not prepared to negotiate a last-minute transfer, indicating that any move is highly unlikely before the deadline.

For Manchester United, this means that while Gallagher remains a player of interest for future windows, the Red Devils may need to explore alternative midfield targets as the transfer window closes.
