Sheffield Wednesday are preparing for their third consecutive Championship campaign as they travel to take on recently relegated Leicester City this weekend.
The Owls finished in 12th place last season, a considerable rise from the previous campaign, which saw them end in 20th place in their return to the English second tier.
However, the club are experiencing extreme financial struggles with The Telegraph reporting that staff salaries had not been paid in full, with training facilities also not ready and one of Hillsborough’s stands was deemed unsafe.
As such, recruitment funds are extremely limited, with no new recruits so far this summer beyond Rio Shipton, Killian Barrett, Guilherme Siqueira and Reece Johnson who have all been promoted from the Under-21s side.
With the extend of the problems at Sheffield Wednesday, it’s not expected that any major signings are going to be made on a permanent basis, with the club likely to be reliant on loans unless sales are made.
Now, Mike McGrath has reported that the Championship club have been targeting Manchester United’s young left back Harry Amass for a season-long loan.

It’s understood that United are keen to send Amass out on loan for the upcoming season, to give the young defender more experience of first-team football at a senior level.
This decision was highlighted by Amass missing out on a place on the plane to travel to America for the Premier League Summer Series, with Ruben Amorim only wanting to take those who will be with the squad this coming season.
However, The Owls are also under a transfer embargo and require EFL dispensation to be able to register players for the coming season.
As such, it’s unclear how likely a move to Hillsborough would be for Harry Amass, or how United feel about the opportunity, with the talented left-back having previously been considered by Leicester City when Ruud van Nistelrooy was in charge of The Foxes before their relegation from the Premier League.
