Inter Milan are considering a move for United defender Matthijs de Ligt this summer.

According to Inter Live, the Serie A giants want to sign him on loan with an obligation to buy.

De Ligt joined United last summer, but his performances have been inconsistent.

With the club facing financial concerns, they could decide to cash in on him.

However, United would likely prefer a permanent sale rather than a loan deal.

The Dutch international might also welcome a fresh start after struggling in England.

Inter Milan could offer him the chance to compete for trophies regularly.

Having previously played in Italy with Juventus, de Ligt is familiar with Serie A.

At 24, he is still in his prime and could be a major asset for Inter.

United may struggle to recoup what they paid for him last summer.

His Premier League form makes it unlikely that clubs will pay a premium fee.

Inter also have Victor Lindelof on their radar as a defensive target.

A loan deal with an option to buy would be a smart move for the Nerazzurri.

They would get to assess Matthijs de Ligt before committing to a permanent transfer.

If he performs well, they can sign him outright next summer.

United, meanwhile, must secure a quality replacement before letting him go.
