Manchester United’s transfer window drama has escalated following their opening weekend defeat to Arsenal, which highlighted vulnerabilities in the squad.
Ruben Amorim’s side had previously not prioritised reinforcements for the goalkeeper position, content with Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir providing options between the sticks.
However, the Gunners’ 1-0 victory prompted United’s hierarchy to reconsider their squad depth in goal.
Deadline day urgency has also intensified discussions around potential targets, with clubs across Europe aware of United’s willingness to act decisively for the right player.
Manchester United’s need for competition and long-term security in goal has seen them cast their net wider, focusing on younger prospects who can develop into future first-team regulars.
Now, Manchester United have reportedly reached a total agreement with Royal Antwerp to sign Belgian goalkeeper Senne Lammens, as per The Athletic.

A fee of €21 million plus €4 million in add-ons has been agreed, with no sell-on clause included, allowing United to fully secure the 23-year-old’s services, as per Axel Brisart via X.
Senne Lammens is travelling to Manchester with personal terms already agreed on a five-year contract, as all parties work to complete the deal ahead of the transfer deadline.
The Belgian shot-stopper joined Antwerp from Club Brugge in July 2023 and quickly established himself as their first-choice goalkeeper, making 44 appearances last season as Antwerp qualified for the Conference League.
Lammens has also attracted attention at international level, being called up to Belgium’s squads for World Cup qualifiers against Wales and North Macedonia, as well as Nations League fixtures against Ukraine, though he is yet to make his senior debut and was not included in the most recent squad.
For United, Senne Lammens represents a younger, long-term option in goal, capable of challenging Onana while providing future stability between the posts.
With the transfer set to conclude imminently, the move signals a clear response from United to early-season concerns and reflects the club’s intent to strengthen key areas before the window shuts.
The Red Devils now hope that Lammens can adapt quickly to the Premier League and compete for the starting spot, giving Amorim and the squad a boost ahead of a demanding season.
