This morning, news broke that Fulham have submitted a third bid of £23 million for Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay which was swiftly rejected, according to multiple reports.
United have previously rejected offers for McTominay, who was also the subject of interest from West Ham United last year.
Fabrizio Romano reports that United are only open to offers around £30 million. Anything less will be rejected.
Four teams interested in McTominay
Alongside Fulham, Galatasaray has also registered interest in McTominay, 27, amid uncertainty over his future at United.
United valued McTominay at £40 million last year and turned down a £30 million offer from West Ham.
Fenerbahce, now managed by Jose Mourinho, are also keen on McTominay but are not prepared to meet United’s valuation.
McTominay made his United debut under Mourinho in May 2017, and it’s well known how highly Mourinho rates the Scottish midfielder.
The latest and fourth club to express interest in McTominay is Everton. The Toffees are in the race but have not yet submitted a bid.
Currently, it looks like Fulham is leading the race for McTominay over Galatasaray, Fenerbahce, and Everton.
However, it will ultimately be up to McTominay to decide where he wants to go, as personal terms have not yet been finalised with any club.
McTominay is out of contract next year, and although United have the option of an additional year, his resale value is unlikely to be as high as it currently is.
Realistically, McTominay is worth the £30 million being quoted. He is a defensive midfielder who scored 10 goals last season and won the FA Cup, which holds significant value in the market.
Once McTominay moves on, it is expected that United will push forward with signing Manuel Ugarte from PSG as they prioritise bringing in a defensive midfielder before the transfer window closes.
