With the final day of the transfer window upon us, Manchester United have limited time to get any more deals across the line for Ruben Amorim to use for the rest of the season.
In their last game, star centre-back Lisandro Martinez was stretchered off, seemingly injuring his knee, having now been reported that his unlikely to return this season.
However, the main concern for United lies in their attack.
The Red Devils are currently relying on Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee as the sole strikers, with the pair currently failing to find the net.
As a response to this, Amorim has now made a very clear demand to the United hierarchy.
Graeme Bailey has reported that Ruben Amorim has made his thoughts clear that he wants a striker to be signed by the close of the transfer window.
Bailey commented: “United are working hard to find an option – they are looking for a loan, but a certain quality – they don’t really want another stop-gap option.”
He continued: “[Mathys] Tel is obviously off the menu as it stands… [Christopher] Nkunku, [Leon] Bailey, [Joao] Felix, [Noah] Okafor and [Dusan] Vlahovic amongst more than a dozen names that have been looked at – United’s footballing department would rather wait until the summer.”
The club were recently pursuing Bayern Munich wantaway Mathys Tel, however, the deal has fallen through over the weekend.
However, a move for Chelsea’s Christopher Nkunku is still on the cards, with the London-based club hoping to sign off a swap-deal including Alejandro Garnacho.
Whether United do agree a deal to see Nkunku move to Old Trafford or if another target is pursued remains to be seen, however one thing is clear. Amorim has little faith in his current options.
