Real Oviedo have been improving their squad ahead of the 2025-26 season following their promotion to La Liga last season which came from a third place finish.
The Spanish side, who lost their opening game of the 2025-26 La Liga campaign 2-0 against Villarreal, have signed eight players so far this summer including Luka Ilic from Red Star, Ilyas Charia from fellow La Liga side Girona and Alberto Reina from CD Mirandes.
However, of their eight summer signings, none of them have fallen in a central defender position.
Now, it looks as if the Spanish outfit are set to make their first central defensive signing of the summer window.
Speaking on X, Fabrizio Romano has given a deal for former Manchester United defender Eric Bailly his famous ‘here we go’ sign off.

The journalist also confirmed that the defender is currently on his way to Spain ahead of his medical on Monday and official signing.
Eric Bailly will join the Spanish side off the back of a spell with Villarreal last season that saw the 31-year-old make 25 appearances.
Before that, the former Red Devils man had been with Besiktas where he made a total of eight appearances.
Earlier in the transfer window, Bailly had rejected a move to Saudi Arabia despite reportedly reaching a verbal agreement with Saudi Pro League side Al-Najmah.
With the defender’s move to the Spanish side set to go ahead, the 31-year-old may take a starting role in the Real Oviedo squad as they strive towards their aim of surviving in their first La Liga season for over ten years.
The former Manchester United defender will also join a squad that features names such as Dani Calvo and David Costas.
