Manchester United’s summer rebuild is gathering pace, but despite the high-profile arrivals of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, key areas in Ruben Amorim’s squad still need strengthening.
The club remain active in the market, particularly in the striker department, as Amorim looks to reshape the attacking line with players suited to his system.
United’s current frontline lacks a consistent goal threat.
And with uncertainty surrounding several forward options, the need for a dominant No.9 has become increasingly urgent.
INEOS are aware that without European football next season, recruitment must be smarter, more strategic, and focused on long-term impact rather than short-term names.
That’s why Benjamin Sesko has emerged as the clear first-choice for United.
As news circulated earlier, the striker is “really open” to joining the club, even in the absence of Champions League football.
Talks have predominantly been around the project and vision, with United selling Sesko a long-term plan rather than simply throwing money at the deal.
Now, according to Fabrizio Romano on X, United have taken the next step.
They have informed RB Leipzig that they are ready to send a formal bid, provided Sesko gives the green light.
Romano adds: “Manchester United have informed RB Leipzig that they are prepared to send formal bid for Benjamin Sesko, if player accepts the destination.”
Newcastle United remain firmly in the race and, according to Romano, have “been ready to bid since last week” and are willing to meet both Leipzig’s demands and Sesko’s salary expectations.
The decision now rests entirely with the 22-year-old Slovenia international, who is weighing up both offers as the window heats up.
🚨 Manchester United have informed RB Leipzig that they are prepared to send formal bid for Benjamin Šeško, if player accepts the destination.
Newcastle also ready to bid since last week and to match Šeško’s financial request.
Decision up to Šeško 🇸🇮
