Manchester United fans have been forced to sit through another tense summer watching the club chase a striker capable of genuinely improving the frontline.
It’s become clear that Rasmus Hojlund, despite his raw talent, needs serious competition or even replacing if United are to return to Europe’s top tier.
But early targets have slipped away – Liam Delap was one of the first approached before the Englishman opted to join Chelsea instead.
Viktor Gyokeres, long admired by Ruben Amorim and heavily linked for a reunion with his former manager, was seen as a perfect fit.
Although, he ended up joining Arsenal, ending months of talks, much to the frustration of United fans.
That has left Benjamin Sesko as United’s most realistic and viable forward option, with negotiations active and contact recently made between all parties.
According to Fabrizio Romano on YouTube, Manchester United have now offered RB Leipzig the opportunity to include a player in the deal to bring Sesko to Old Trafford.
However, Romano notes that including a player won’t be easy, with Hojlund named as Leipzig’s dream target.
Including a player would pose extremely difficult, especially due to a lack of European football next season for the Red Devils.
Christopher Vivell, who has strong ties to the Red Bull group, is said to be playing a key role in trying to make the transfer happen.
For now, United wait – Romano states Sesko is set to meet with his family and agents to decide what project suits him best, with a final decision expected in the coming days.
The club are optimistic about their chances and don’t expect this to turn into a drawn-out saga.
Although for now, it’s all eyes on what Sesko chooses.
United’s long awaited search for a striker may soon be coming to an end.
