Well the deal has been done and Leny Yoro has officially become a United player, signing a contract which will see him at the club for five years.
The 18-year-old has ultimately decided to move to the Premier League after preferring a LaLiga move to Real Madrid. United however have managed to lure the centre-back with a deal which will see him earn a yearly salary of €9 million (£7.55 million) with bonuses, equating to around £145,000 per week.
The centre-back has shot to fame, turning heads with his performances in both French league, Ligue 1, and the UEFA Europa Conference League with LOSC Lille last season. Making 44 appearances across all competitions, he helped the club secure a fourth-place finish in the league and making it to the Quarter-Finals of the Conference league where they were knocked out by Aston Villa.
With Yoro’s regard as a ‘generational talent’, the club have managed to secure an exciting talent both now and for the future, with the ex-Lille defender sitting in the heart of defence. This successful move or United marks INEOS intent to sign quality for the club as part of their rebuild over the coming years.
There’s no surprise that with such an exciting signing, some of the existing Red Devils have reacted to the news of such a quality defender joining them at Old Trafford.
United’s striker Rasmus Hojlund has recently done just this and ‘liked’ a post from sports journalist Fabrizio Romano reporting that the first part of Yoro’s medical was completed and the contract signing was set to follow.
With Hojlund having competed at Euro 2024 with the Denmark squad, the striker is currently on an extended break after being knocked out by Germany 2-0 in the round of 16.
