Despite the absence of Champions League football, Manchester United have made headlines with aggressive moves in the market, spending over £120 million already.

New signings like Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo have raised expectations, while questions swirl over which players might be heading out the exit door before the window closes.

Ruben Amorim has wasted no time reshaping his squad, with some of last season’s big names already slipping down the pecking order.

And now, another surprise twist has emerged — involving a striker who was once heralded as the club’s next great No.9.

Rasmus Hojlund is reportedly open to a return to Serie A, with La Gazzetta dello Sport revealing that AC Milan have initiated talks with the Danish forward.

The 22-year-old joined Manchester United from Atalanta under Erik ten Hag, but the forward has struggled to establish himself since his high-profile arrival.

A change in head coach and the arrivals of two — possibly three — new attacking players this summer have thrown Hojlund’s role at Old Trafford into uncertainty.

La Gazzetta dello Sport claims that Milan see Rasmus Hojlund as a strong alternative to Dusan Vlahovic, citing the Dane’s lower wage demands as a major factor.

Milan’s current No.9 Santiago Gimenez is without competition in their squad, prompting the Rossoneri to move swiftly to explore other options.

Initial discussions between Milan and Hojlund’s representatives have reportedly been positive, and the player is said to be enthusiastic about returning to Italy.

It’s understood Manchester United would be willing to accept a fee in the region of £30m–£34m — significantly less than what they originally paid just two seasons ago.

United may view the potential sale as a financial loss, but one that could ease FFP pressure and help balance an already bloated forward line.

Whether a formal bid from Milan materialises remains to be seen, but one thing is clear — Rasmus Hojlund’s future at Old Trafford is now hanging by a thread.
