It has been a while since Rasmus Hojlund’s tenure at Manchester United reached a breaking point.

The acquisition of Benjamin Sesko this summer significantly reduced the Denmark international’s importance after he struggled to make a consistent impression the previous season.

His position at Old Trafford has been increasingly precarious, and the rivalry up front has only made it more apparent that opportunities will be scarce.

With United wanting to recover money and the striker himself prepared for a new challenge, there has been conjecture about a move for weeks.

Napoli have been in talks for weeks now to sign the Danish striker.

Now a breakthrough has been reached.

According to Fabrizio Romano via X, a verbal agreement has been completed by all parties for the transfer of Rasmus Hojlund to Napoli.

It will be a loan deal for around £5 million with a £38 million obligation to buy at the end of the season.

He will travel for his medical in the next hours.

International players like Hojlund are under increasing pressure to get consistent playing time as the 2026 World Cup approaches.

There are now more questions regarding his starting position at United due to his recent slump in form for Denmark—just one goal in his previous 16 games.

Sesko completed Amorim’s new attacking trio, with RB Leipzig and United having agreed a deal valued at £73.8 million, consisting of a £66.4 million transfer fee and £7.4 million in bonuses.

Hojlund will hope to have a successful career at Napoli.
