Rasmus Hojlund is seemingly coming to the end of his time at Old Trafford as The Red Devils plan for the coming season.
Yesterday’s friendly at Old Trafford against Fiorentina was an exceptionally telling occasion for two key reasons, pushing Hojlund towards the exit door.
Firstly was with the unveiling of new striker Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig who’s joining Ruben Amorim’s squad as the first-choice striker.
Sesko was well sought after, with United battling Newcastle United for the Slovenia international, with Arsenal having also been linked for a considerable time.
However, the 22-year-old was unveiled to the fans at the Theatre of Dreams, marking his arrival to replace Hojlund at the head of the attacking line.
As such, the game marked Hojlund’s last fixture as the club’s first-choice striker, which made it even more telling that the Denmark international watched on from the dugout as an unused substitute.
Now, Ben Jacobs has reported that Hojlund has been told he will have to leave the club if he wants game time this coming season.
The decision from Amorim to not utilise Hojlund comes as United are negotiating a potential move for the striker with Italian giants AC Milan.
Whilst The Red Devils are keen for a permanent move, the Serie A side are pursuing a £4.5 million loan deal with option to buy for £34.5 million.
Previously Hojlund has been keen to remain at Old Trafford to prove himself, however, with limited game time now on offer for the striker, Hojlund may well have to reassess his options.
