Manchester United’s summer tour has provided key glimpses into how Ruben Amorim intends to shape his squad ahead of the new season.

Benjamin Sesko’s name continues to dominate discussions at Carrington, with the club’s transfer team actively exploring whether a deal can be done with RB Leipzig.

Sesko has reportedly indicated his desire to join Manchester United over Newcastle United.

United staff are reportedly drawing up internal scenarios for both striker options, but there is no final green light from Leipzig — yet.

While United remain locked in talks over a €75million plus add-ons deal for Sesko, one of their current stars is making his presence felt in the meantime.

And with Amorim refusing to publicly close the door on new arrivals, it’s clear that nothing is set in stone at Old Trafford.

Rasmus Hojlund is still in the dark about his long-term future at Manchester United — but that hasn’t stopped him from speaking with his feet on the pitch.

The 22-year-old Denmark striker started up front against Bournemouth in Chicago, his second appearance of the tour, and scored in a display that underlined his determination to stay and fight.

His future remains uncertain, with Sesko named as United’s first-choice striker target should they bring in a new No 9.

But crucially, Rasmus Hojlund has not been directly told by the club that he’s up for sale, as per The Athletic.

That technicality matters for the forward, who signed a deal until 2030 and has remained loyal in his public messaging.

“I have a contract until 2030, so I expect to play for Manchester United,” he said earlier this summer.

“I’m looking forward to going on a summer vacation, and then I’m fully dedicated to the project that’s underway.”

After the Bournemouth clash, Ruben Amorim praised the young striker but avoided giving any guarantees over his status.

“I am really happy with Rasmus,” said Amorim.

“I don’t know what is going to happen until the end of the market.

“The important thing is that the strikers that are here are working really well, are improving, are helping the team.”

When asked about Sesko, Amorim replied: “No. The important thing is that Rasmus is scoring goals, he’s connecting really well with the team.”

Despite holding suspicions about United’s direction, Hojlund’s mindset remains unchanged — unless the club explicitly tells him otherwise.

Hojlund also has no interest in leaving the Red Devils and is not entertaining negotiations with any other club, as Fabrizio Romano reported.

Sesko, also 22, is unlikely to arrive as a backup and would expect to start if he joins, raising questions about whether both can realistically coexist in Amorim’s system.

While United are exploring ways to get a deal done, RB Leipzig are asking for €75million plus a sell-on clause — and negotiations are expected to drag on.

Interestingly, Leipzig have also emerged as one of the clubs monitoring Hojlund, raising the prospect of a possible swap deal involving both strikers, though United would still need to pay a premium due to Sesko’s higher market value.

Inter Milan had also shown concrete interest but have since pivoted to sign Ange-Yoan Bonny from Parma instead.

For now, Hojlund continues to play and score — but United’s silence on his future is becoming louder by the day.
