Manchester United are putting the final touches on their pre-season campaign, with plenty of takeaways ahead of the new Premier League season.
RUben Amorim’s men have looked sharper with every match, and fans are particularly encouraged by the attacking link-ups developing in the final third.
There’s still concern over fatigue in key positions, but younger players have stepped up well to plug gaps across the squad.
United’s win over Bournemouth offered another glimpse into Amorim’s tactical vision — and one player took the opportunity to set the record straight on his future.
That man is Rasmus Hojlund, who spoke out after the match to silence any talk of an Old Trafford exit.
The 22-year-old has been linked with speculation over his role following United’s interest in bringing in another striker this summer.
But the Denmark international made it crystal clear where he stands.
“I think my plan is very clear and that is for me to stay at Manchester United,” said Hojlund, as quoted by the Daily Mail via Fabrizio Romano on X.
“I want to fight for my spot whatever happens,” he added, addressing the competition for places in Amorim’s squad.
Rasmus Hojlund also reflected on his development in a United shirt over the last year.
“I am still very young, people sometimes forget that.
“I am only 22 years old,” he said.
“I have learned a lot, and I think that shows in my game.
“I have done very well so far during the pre-season… I want to stay here.
“Obviously, not every striker is scoring 100 goals at the age of 22 (like Erling Haaland).
“But I’ve learned a lot, I think you can see in my game. I’m starting to develop and become even better in the basics.”
Hojlund commented on the competition if Sesko was to come to United: “Competition is fine with me.
“It sharpens me. I’m more than ready. I’m feeling sharp, so I’m welcoming everything that comes.
“I think it’s good with competition and it only sharpens the team,” he concluded, as quoted by the Manchester Evening News.
The comments came after United’s dominant 4-1 win over Bournemouth, where Hojlund opened the scoring.
Rasmus Hojlund has not been directly told by the club that he’s up for sale.
While some outlets suggested the club may listen to offers if a new striker arrived, Hojlund has now left no room for doubt.
His determination to succeed at Manchester United — regardless of who else is brought in — will be music to the ears of Amorim.
