One of Manchester United key young signings for January is set to be staying at his current club for the rest of the season.
The Red Devils have been monitoring the situation surrounding Sverre Halseth Nypan since the summer, waiting to move for the youngster.
Unfortunately United were unable to make any official movement for Nypan until January due to him only turning 18 in December.
However, the delay in signing him led to multiple other clubs including Manchester City and Arsenal scouting the youngster.
Now, The Athletic has reported that despite the interest, Nypan is set to stay at Rosenborg for the remained of the season.

Manchester United miss out on January signing of Sverre Halseth Nypan
Nypan has been regarded by many as “the next Martin Odegaard”, with the sheer level of interest backing this up.
This month the young midfielder flew to Manchester to meet with the Citizens regarding a potential move with the opportunity to move to Girona on loan for the rest of the season.
However, this ultimately hasn’t materialised as Nypan is set to stay with his hometown club.
When interest started peaking last summer, Nypan revealed that he’d like to see through the season at Rosenborg, with any move for him needing to take place this coming summer.
Now, this looks set to be the case as with so many top clubs swarming for the star, it’s hard to believe he’ll be in the Rosenborg line-up at the start of next season.
However, if United want to land their key young target, they’ll need to generate funds immediately through sales to compete with other top clubs.
