Manchester United are pushing forward with their summer transfer plans as Ruben Amorim and Sir Jim Ratcliffe look to reshape the squad ahead of the 2025/26 season.

With Champions League football still uncertain, the club has identified key targets early in a bid to avoid the delays and uncertainty of recent windows.

The attacking department, in particular, remains a concern, with several players set to depart and reinforcements badly needed.

Marcus Rashford and Antony, both loaned out in January, are unlikely to return, while Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee have both struggled for consistency throughout the season.

United are looking to add dynamic, proven attackers – and one name has now moved firmly to the top of their shortlist.

According to CaughtOffside, Manchester United are nearing a verbal agreement with Wolves star Matheus Cunha after tabling a lucrative contract offer.

The 25-year-old Brazilian has impressed at Molineux this season, catching the eye with his versatility and creativity in the final third.

CaughtOffside reports that United’s offer would see Matheus Cunha earn double his current wages – a decisive move that appears to have edged them ahead of rivals Arsenal, Liverpool and Newcastle United.

While Arsenal’s new sporting director Andrea Berta is said to be a strong admirer of Cunha, the Gunners are still exploring other options, giving United the advantage in negotiations.

United have prioritised the signing under the guidance of Amorim, who has stressed to the board just how highly he rates Cunha’s fit within his tactical setup.

Although personal terms are not yet fully finalised, sources claim a verbal agreement is now close, and United are optimistic that Cunha could be the club’s first signing of the summer window.

Cunha’s ability to operate across the front line would give Amorim flexibility, but United are still expected to pursue an additional centre-forward capable of delivering 25+ goals per season.

As things stand, the deal for Cunha is progressing quickly – and United may have just beaten their rivals to one of the window’s most sought-after talents.
