Manchester United is built on using Carrington as a direct pathway to the first team.
From Bobby Charlton to the Class of ’92, the academy has always been crucial to the club’s success.
After selling Marcus Rashford to Barcelona this summer and Scott McTominay to Napoli last year, the number of academy graduates in the first-team squad is now running thin.
A huge amount of hope is currently placed on 20-year-old Kobbie Mainoo.
Mainoo is supremely talented but struggled last season under Ruben Amorim.
Amorim’s system relies on a two-man midfield, and with Bruno Fernandes often playing in a deeper role, Mainoo found it difficult to get consistent minutes at times.
However, he still remains a key part of Amorim’s plans, with the United manager stating that he has “big plans” for the young midfielder.

According to GiveMeSport, Tottenham Hotspur have now made an enquiry for Kobbie Mainoo, with his contract situation at Manchester United still unresolved.
Now managed by Thomas Frank, Spurs are expected to operate with a three-man midfield next season, and Mainoo is seen as an ideal fit for Frank’s system.
With a clear focus on recruiting and developing young talent, Tottenham would likely jump at the chance to bring Mainoo to North London.
However, it would take a significant offer for Manchester United to consider selling the 20-year-old.
With a crucial season ahead under new manager Ruben Amorim, United will be determined to keep hold of their key players, and Mainoo is certainly among them.
Amorim has already made it clear that he views Mainoo as an important part of his midfield plans.
The priority now will be to ensure the youngster gets consistent minutes in a role where he can make the biggest impact.
Although Mainoo endured a slightly underwhelming campaign last season, he looks poised for an important year under Amorim, who is eager to unlock the midfielder’s full potential.
