Manchester United’s striker hunt continues to dominate headlines as the transfer window heats up.

With Rasmus Hojlund’s future still uncertain and the club pushing to secure a consistent goalscorer, manager Ruben Amorim is reportedly exploring multiple avenues to bolster his attacking line.

United are still hoping to land Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig after submitting a formal bid for the 22-year-old striker.

Leipzig are leaning towards Newcastle’s bid, which stands at £78 million.

With Newcastle also poised to raise funds from a potential Alexander Isak sale, United may be forced to pivot sooner rather than later.

That’s where Ollie Watkins enters the frame.

The Aston Villa striker, who has long been on the radar of top Premier League clubs, is said to be open to a move this summer.

According to The Sun, Ollie Watkins is eager for a new challenge, and United could present the ideal next step in his career.

Villa, meanwhile, are under pressure to balance the books after being fined by UEFA for breaching financial regulations and may reluctantly accept a bid in the region of £40m–£50m.

A sale of Watkins would also give United the flexibility to strengthen other areas – most notably in holding midfield, a long-standing issue at Old Trafford.

Still, Watkins isn’t the only alternative Ruben Amorim is monitoring.

Two prolific scorers in Portugal have been linked with the club as fallback options.

Porto’s Samu Aghehowa, who netted 27 goals last season, had a move to Chelsea collapse due to image rights complications and an ankle issue but remains a high-profile option.

Benfica’s Vangelis Pavlidis, who hit 30 goals, also made headlines recently after scoring a brace in Greece’s 2-1 shock victory over England at Wembley.

To round out the shortlist, Juventus have reportedly offered Dusan Vlahovic to United.

Sesko may still be the primary target, but United’s striker shortlist is growing – and Watkins could be the most Premier League-ready name on it.
