Manchester United have had a busy summer in the transfer market, juggling multiple targets as Ruben Amorim looks to strengthen his squad across all positions.
The Red Devils have been exploring options in goal, midfield, and attack, with a focus on younger players who can develop into long-term solutions.
The transfer deadline is approaching, and the club has had to make swift decisions to balance squad depth with financial constraints, especially in positions where competition is fierce.
United’s scouting team has been active in South America and Europe, identifying talents who could make an immediate impact while offering future potential.
Competition from other clubs has also intensified, with Premier League and European sides closely monitoring emerging talents linked with Manchester United.
One player who was previously on United’s radar is Brazilian goalkeeper John Victor, whose recent performances in Brazil had caught the attention of scouts at Old Trafford.
Nottingham Forest have now confirmed, via their website, the signing of the 29-year-old, who has joined on a three-year deal after two standout seasons with Botafogo.

John Victor played 39 times in all competitions last season, including a strong showing at the Club World Cup, where he featured in every minute as Botafogo reached the last-16.
Victor first joined Botafogo in January 2024 and was pivotal in helping the Rio side secure a league and Copa Libertadores double.
The 6ft 5in goalkeeper also gained valuable European experience during a loan spell at Spanish side Real Valladolid before returning to Brazil to cement his reputation as one of the country’s top shot-stoppers.
In total, Victor made 62 appearances in the 2024/25 season, impressing with his reflexes, commanding presence, and consistency between the posts.
His move to Nottingham Forest marks his first permanent return to European football and provides him with the opportunity to test himself in the Premier League, a challenge he has long aspired to.
While Manchester United ultimately missed out on the Brazilian, Victor’s signing highlights the club’s continued interest in emerging goalkeeping talent and the increasing competition among Premier League sides for top international prospects.
United have, however, looked to have secured the services of Belgian goalkeeper, Senne Lammens after a total agreement was reached with Royal Antwerp.
Nottingham Forest fans have welcomed John Victor warmly, and the goalkeeper is expected to take a central role in the club’s ambitions for the upcoming season.
