Benjamin Sesko is at the heart of the most recent Premier League transfer war, as Newcastle United and Manchester United go head-to-head for the Slovenia international’s signature.
Last season the 22-year-old scored 21 goals and grabbed six assists in 45 games, showing off the potential he holds at such a young age.
As such, United are looking to Sesko as a replacement for Rasmus Hojlund who’s only registered 26 goals and six assists in 95 games, five more goals than Sesko in fifty more games.
United have been in the market for a new striker for some time given Hojlund’s struggling performances, however most of their key targets have already been snapped up, leading to Sesko and Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins being the only remaining options.
As for Newcastle, The Magpies are preparing to lose Alexander Isak, their star striker, who has expressed the desire to explore a summer move.
Now, having missed out on Hugo Ekitike to Liverpool, their Plan B should they lose Isak, Newcastle are going all-in for Benjamin Sesko.
Talking on his YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano has explained that Newcastle United are writing a blank cheque for the 22-year-old striker.
Romano explained: “If Benjamin Šeško decides he wants to go to Newcastle, they are ready to pay whatever it takes.”
He continued: “They already know the conditions of the deal, so they don’t even need to negotiate with RB Leipzig. They are ready to go and pay what Leipzig want.
“They’re ready to go and pay what Sesko wants. They’re also ready to pay whatever Šeško’s camp wants. They know everything about the deal, they started working on this last week.
“Newcastle are ready for Šeško at any moment, but it’s depends on the player. It’s up to the player to say if he wants Newcastle and then they’ll be ready.”
