Newcastle United are preparing for life without Alexander Isak as the Sweden international has expressed his desire to explore other clubs this summer.

Unfortunately, this is a further blow for the club, who attempted to sign Hugo Ekitike as a Plan B to Isak, however, lost out to Liverpool, who initially viewed Isak as their top target.

Now, the Anfield outfit could be set to take both targets if they choose to pursue Isak once again.

However, for Newcastle, The Magpies, much like Manchester United, have limited options of available proven strikers to sign this summer.

As such, it’s no real surprise that the two clubs are going head-to-head to sign Benjamin Sesko, with both clubs having pitched their project to the RB Leipzig striker.

It’s understood that their offers are on the table with the striker and his representatives, as formal bids to Leipzig are expected to come after personal terms are agreed.

Now, FootMercato has reported that Newcastle are penning a £63.5 million bid for the Slovenia international.

It’s unknown at this time how much United are looking to offer for the striker, with Randal Kolo Muani also on their shortlist after having missed out on Viktor Gyokeres, Liam Delap, Hugo Ekitike and Victor Osimhen.

Whilst there was initial speculation that United could make a move for Isak given his desire to leave Newcastle, the Red Devils have ruled this out due to his hefty price tag.

With limited top quality strikers still available, United’s hierarchy have already accepted that they might start the 2025/26 Premier League campaign without signing a new striker.

As such, the Red Devils will be left with Rasmus Hojlund as their first-choice striker, unless they decide to put Joshua Zirkzee or new signings Matheus Cunha or Bryan Mbeumo in the position to lead the attacking line.
