Newcastle United are now looking to Benjamin Sesko as they prepare for life without Alexander Isak.
The Sweden international told The Magpies today that he wants to explore the possibility of leaving St James Park this summer after the talented striker has received significant interest from Liverpool.
As such, Newcastle need to be able to replace their key goalscorer before letting him go, however, with the world’s top striker already snapped up, there’s limited choices left.
Hugo Ekitike has gone to Liverpool, Viktor Gyokeres is on his way to Arsenal and Victor Osimhen is looking set to move to Galatasaray permanently.
As such, RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko is left as a possibility, with Manchester United also looking to the striker to lead their new attacking trio.
However, Fabrizio Romano has now reported that Newcastle are pushing ahead, preparing a move for the 22-year-old.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano commented: “Newcastle are going big, or at least are trying to go big for Benjamin Sesko.”
He continued: “Newcastle are on it. Newcastle from what I understand, I can add this detail tonight, are prepared to make a proposal to the player and to present their project to the player.
“Newcastle really want to try to bring Benjamin Sesko. That will be massive, it’s not easy as I mentioned in the previous video, there is this kind of gentleman’s agreement between Sesko and Leipzig.
“He can leave the club for a ‘special club’ and ‘special’ word is decided by Sesko. So only if Sesko goes to Leipzig and says ‘ok for me this club could be ok.’
“In that case, the price that can be €70-€80 million range plus €5-€10 million add-ons, something around that.”
As such, Manchester United could be set to miss out on yet another shortlisted striker this summer.
