Newcastle United have been preparing for the 2025-26 season this summer, looking to improve on their fifth place finish in the Premier League last season.
Already The Magpies have signed of Antonio Cordero from Malaga for an undisclosed fee.
Eddie Howe’s team will shortly embark on a pre-season schedule facing teams such as Celtic and Arsenal in their bid to prepare for their Champions League campaign.
However, one of the players that Howe hopes will be taking part in this run of games is former Manchester United player Anthony Elanga.
Elanga has been one of Newcastle’s key targets this summer with Howe’s side making a bid for the winger earlier in the summer.

Now, an update has emerged on the potential deal between Newcastle United and Elanga’s current club Nottingham Forest for the winger.
According to Chris Hope, speaking on X earlier today, the agreement between the two clubs currently remains close.
However, there is still some details that have to be sorted out to allow the sale of the Englishman to Newcastle to happen successfully.
But, there is hope that these details can be sorted out.

Earlier in the window, it emerged that Manchester United had a 20% sell on clause in Elanga’s contract when he made the move from Old Trafford to Forest in 2023.
So, if the current deal worth £55 million was to go through, the Red Devils would receive around £8 million as a windfall payment.
This is much-needed money that could be used to further strengthen Ruben Amorim’s side ahead of the 2025-26 season.
Therefore, for Manchester United, a successful sale of Elanga would only benefit everyone at Old Trafford in their quest to strengthen the squad this summer.
