Manchester United fans are hoping for a summer of big spending under INEOS as the club look to form another major rebuild in Ruben Amorim’s shape.

But the path back to the top is no longer just about cash.

The Premier League’s depth means even traditional sides outside the top six are armed with elite scouting and financial power.

Gone are the days when only United or the traditional top four dictated the transfer market.

Now, Champions League qualifiers like Newcastle United are shaping the conversation.

And Newcastle have now named their price for Nottingham Forest winger Anthony Elanga, tabling a bid believed to be worth close to £50 million, as per The Telegraph’s report.

The 23-year-old Swede is one of three players the Magpies are targeting this summer.

Alongside Brighton’s Joao Pedro and Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford, in a bold triple swoop worth a potential £125m.

All three players are keen on the move and want to play under Eddie Howe, with wages not expected to be a sticking point.

However, there is resistance from the selling clubs and Newcastle are still some way short of the valuations being placed on the trio.

Forest have so far insisted that Elanga is not for sale, as per The Telegraph’s report.

However, Newcastle remain determined and are working toward a breakthrough before the end of next week.

Notably, United would benefit if the deal goes through.

The Red Devils included a sell-on clause in the deal that saw Elanga depart Old Trafford in summer 2023.

United were linked with possibility of re-signing Elanga, back in April.

However, that remains rather unlikely.

Elanga would be viewed as an upgrade on Jacob Murphy, adding pace, directness, and youth to Newcastle’s attack.

While also allowing flexibility in their wide options.

The Telegraph state that Howe is prioritising at least two signings by the start of pre-season on July 7.

Newcastle are working within financial constraints due to PSR regulations, having already offloaded Yankuba Minteh and Elliot Anderson to remain compliant.
