Manchester United’s youth structure continues to evolve under Ruben Amorim’s regime, with several former academy figures now taking up new challenges elsewhere.
This summer has already seen changes at Carrington, as pre-season training kicks into gear and players begin staking their claim for breakthrough campaigns.
The likes of Kobbie Mainoo have become symbols of the pathway from youth to senior football, reminding supporters of the quality being produced in the academy.

Amorim has been eager to highlight the importance of youth, and his backroom staff have continued to promote a development-first culture – one rooted in the foundations built by former academy staff.
One of those individuals could now be on the verge of a fresh challenge.
Adam Lawrence, the former Manchester United Under-18s manager, is among the final four candidates being considered for the Newcastle United Under-21 managerial job, as per Craig Hope via X.
Adam Lawrence left United in May after a hugely successful spell at the club, where he helped deliver three trophies in the 2023/24 campaign and played a pivotal role in the development of eight academy graduates who went on to make senior debuts.

He first arrived at the club in 2021 as the Under-16s lead coach before quickly being promoted to lead the Under-18s setup – where his work gained admiration from within the club and beyond.
Now, Newcastle are seeking a new leader for their Under-21 squad after instability at that level, and Lawrence is one of four names on their shortlist.
Also in the running is current Newcastle U21 assistant Robbie Stockdale.
Lawrence, having worked closely with Manchester United’s senior coaching team during his tenure, is seen as someone who can instil identity and structure at academy level.
His departure from Old Trafford was not taken lightly, with United acknowledging the important role he played in bridging the gap between youth and first-team football.
If Newcastle move ahead with his appointment, it would be another example of the United DNA spreading its influence across the English game.
