Manchester United are finally starting to cash in on some of their previous sales where they included sell-on clauses.

The intention of this is so that the club can still benefit from the future development of their former stars, whilst not having them on their books anymore.

Sky Sports have reported that Newcastle United have begun discussions today with Nottingham Forest over a former United star.

The deal in question is for winger Anthony Elanga. It’s understood the fee being discussed for the Swedish attacker is in excess of £35 million.

The report explains that Eddie Howe is a big fan of the winger and has wanted Newcastle to sign the star all summer.

It’s understood that the funds are available for Newcastle who saw their £70 million move for Marc Guehi collapse.

However it’s understood that Forest have no intention of selling their winger, so they would be looking for a lot more to convince them of parting ways with the ex-United man.

This could be massive for Manchester United, with the club having a substantial sell-on clause as part of their £15 million sale of Elanga last summer.
