In recent years, Napoli and Manchester United have built a relationship that has seen plenty of transfer links between the two clubs.
United sanctioned the sale of Scott McTominay to Naples last summer, while Alejandro Garnacho was also heavily linked with a switch to the Serie A side during the winter window.
Those talks displayed the strong communication channels between the two clubs, with Napoli often looking to Old Trafford as they reshape their squad.
Now, that dialogue has continued – but this time over a very different profile of player.
According to Alfredo Pedulla’s report, Napoli have been offered the chance to sign Rasmus Hojlund in the wake of Romelu Lukaku’s injury.
The Belgian striker will be sidelined for several months, forcing Napoli to explore the market for a specialist centre-forward who can mirror his physicality and style of play.
Several options, such as Nicolas Jackson from Chelsea, have been deemed too expensive, but Hojlund has emerged as a possible solution.
Pedulla reports that Napoli will evaluate the Danish international before making a final decision.
Juventus and AC Milan are also monitoring the situation given their own interest in striking reinforcements.
Meanwhile, Fabrizio Romano has revealed on X, that Napoli held direct contact with United on Monday to discuss a possible loan move for Rasmus Hojlund.
The Serie A champions asked for details of the loan conditions, though no official bid has yet been tabled.
United, however, remain cautious about their striker options and are determined to keep Joshua Zirkzee.
Romano added that no talks have taken place over the Dutch forward despite recent speculation.
Ruben Amorim is understood to have a clear plan for his attacking department, but with Lukaku’s injury forcing Napoli’s hand, the future of Hojlund could yet become one of the defining stories of the late summer window.
