AS Monaco have announced the signing of former Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba.

The Frenchman arrives at the club on a two year deal. This follows an extended period away from football due to a doping ban – which was imposed on him in 2023.

Pogba was a fan favourite whilst at Manchester United, making 233 appearances across seven years, scoring 39 times and grabbing 51 assists.

Across his time at Old Trafford, the World Cup Winner delivered plenty of iconic moments for fans to remember.

A standout moment for the midfielder arguably has to be his brace against Manchester City in 2018 to prevent them winning the league at the Etihad.

Now, the former France international is headed to Ligue 1 side, AS Monaco for the first time that he’ll be playing for a club other than United or Juventus.

Taking to their official site, Monaco’s unveiling statement read: “AS Monaco are delighted to announce the arrival of Paul Pogba. The French World Champion has signed a two-season deal, having signed with the Principality until 30 June 2027.”

Pogba will bring many qualities to Monaco. But, his most impressive has to be his experience and his track record. The former French international won the Premier League with United in the 2010/11 season alongside winning the Europa League and EFL Cup in his second spell with the club.

Furthermore, on the international stage, Paul Pogba knows how to contribute to success. This is due to his FIFA World Cup and Nations League victories in 2018 and 2021.

This experience and track record puts the midfielder in good stead for his newest adventure at Monaco.

However, with an extended period away from professional football there are many questions to be asked. One of these is will the former Manchester man be able to replicate the same level of performance as before?

Well, this will all depend on the training and activities the 32 year old took whilst he was away from football altogether. If this training was good, there is a good chance that he will be able to strive to the levels of the past.

However, if the training was bad, there will be doubts about his ability to replicate the success of the past and become one of AS Monaco’s star players.

Only time will tell in this matter but we wish Pogba all the best in this next adventure.
