Manchester United are on the brink of securing their first major summer signing in Ruben Amorim’s bid to rebuild his squad starting with Matheus Cunha.
The Wolverhampton Wanderers striker has had a standout season and now looks set to move to Old Trafford.
With 17 goals and six assists in 34 games, Cunha is seen as a great upgrade on struggling strikers Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee, bringing much needed fire-power to the United attack.
As such, United have been front runner to land the Brazil international heading into the summer transfer window.
Whilst conversations have been taking place between Cunha and United to iron out the details of his contract at Old Trafford, The Red Devils can by-pass negotiations with Wolves by triggering his release clause.
It’s understood that his release clause stands at £62.5 million, which is reportedly achievable even with United’s financial struggles.
Now, the deal appears to be imminent with a new update from Fabrizio Romano.

Fabrizio Romano teases Matheus Cunha “here we go”
Fabrizio Romano has reported that Cunha is excited by the project with United and is finalising personal terms to join The Red Devils.
It’s understood that the deal is in the final stages of agreement between United and Wolves to see the Brazilian join Amorim’s side.
With Amorim prioritising the move for Cunha, as well as fighting to sign Liam Delap from Ipswich Town, United’s attack could be set to be a very different line-up to this season.
Whilst Zirkzee is set to remain at Old Trafford, Rasmus Hojlund is likely to return to Serie A with teams like Inter Milan, Juventus and Napoli having monitored the star at various points throughout the last half of the season.
It’s understood that Delap is being considered to replace Hojlund as the first-choice striker with Cunha sat just behind him in the front-three, however Cunha’s versatility could see him step up to be their star striker.
