Manchester United have been active in this summer’s transfer window as they look to strengthen the squad that finished a disappointing 15th in the Premier League last season.

Following the signing of Bryan Mbeumo, United will target further additions.

With a striker, a goalkeeper, and a midfielder remaining key priorities.

However, outgoings will be just as important.

With player sales essential to raise the funds needed to continue the squad rebuild.

The first major departure appears to be Marcus Rashford, who is set to join Barcelona.

United and Barcelona have agreed a deal for an initial loan with an option to buy the England international.

While United would have preferred a permanent sale, Barcelona’s willingness to cover 100% of Rashford’s wages during the loan provides financial relief and flexibility for reinvestment.

Rashford, who is eager to get his career back on track, will be hoping that a fresh start in La Liga helps him rediscover the form he is capable of producing.

Fabrizio Romano has now revealed, via YouTube, that Manchester United and Barcelona have agreed on a fee for a penalty clause within the Marcus Rashford loan deal.

Although there is only an option to buy at the end of the loan, a clause has been inserted to ensure United receive compensation if Barcelona choose not to make the move permanent.

This penalty clause is similar to the one included in Jadon Sancho’s loan to Chelsea, where Chelsea paid United £5 million when opting against a permanent deal.

However, in Rashford’s case, the fee will be smaller.

Romano reports that the amount will be under £5 million, though the exact figure remains undisclosed.

The clause gives United some financial security while allowing Barcelona to assess Rashford over the course of the season.
