Marcus Rashford has officially left Manchester United, joining Aston Villa on loan for the remained of the season.

The United academy graduate announced his desire for a new challenge back in December, with Unai Emery being a big fan of Rashford, happy to oblige.

On Sunday, Rashford completed his medical assessment to move to The Villains, with Villa holding an option to buy at the end of the season for £40 million.

Now, having signed all the paperwork, the former United man has turned to social media to address the situation.

Taking to Instagram, Marcus Rashford posted: “I would like to thank Manchester United and Aston Villa for making this loan deal happen.”

He continued: “I was lucky to have a few clubs approach me but Aston Villa was an easy decision – I really admire the way that Aston Villa have been playing this season, and the manager’s ambitions. I just want to play football and am excited to get started.

“I wish everyone at Manchester United all the best for the rest of the season.”

His comments about wanting to play football are likely a nod to the fact that he’s fallen out of favour with Ruben Amorim.

The United manager has refused to select the England international since the start of December, with only on exception, having him as an unused substitute against Newcastle.

As such, the loan move is Rashford’s chance to kickstart his career once more and hopefully get back to the form he saw a few seasons ago with 30 goals to his name in one campaign.
