Marcus Rashford is set to be unveiled as a new Barcelona player any day now as the attacker has departed Manchester United and arrived in Spain, having now completed his medical and contract signing.
Whilst the move itself is only temporary, as a season-long loan, the LaLiga champions do have the option to buy Rashford at the end of the season for a fee of around £26 million to £30 million.
Unfortunately at this time there still seems to be some conflicting information regarding the accurate fee for Barca to permanently take the England international, however it is set as less than Aston Villa’s option to buy of £40 million in the winter.
It’s also understood that Rashford has taken a 15% pay-cut to join Barcelona, seeing him take on a £11 million per year salary.
However, it’s also been revealed that Rashford is set to take on a more back-seat role at Camp Nou, instead of the starring role he’s had at United and Villa.
Last night it was revealed that Rashford is being viewed as a cover for Raphinha to preserve the Brazilian attacker from fatigue.
Now, Mundo Deportivo has reported that Rashford is set to be handed the number 14 shirt, with Lamine Yamal recently handed the number 10 he wore at Old Trafford.
Rashford has briefly worn the number 14 shirt before for the youth side at Old Trafford, however he now joins some big names to have donned the number at Camp Nou.
Recently the number was handed to Pablo Torre, Joao Felix and former Red Devil Memphis Depay.
However, looking back further, greats for Barca such as Javier Mascherano and Thierry Henry.
Now, Marcus Rashford gets to put his stamp on the shirt, it only remains to be seen if that’s for a season, of for the foreseeable future.
