In the summer, Manchester United generated their most sales in a single transfer window ever.

Including potential add-ons, Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS Sport raised €141.45m in transfer outgoings.

However, many still felt that there was more work to be done and more ‘dead wood’ to be sold.

United narrowly avoided Premier League Profit and Sustainability (PSR) breaches this year.

Clubs are allowed to lose up to £105m over a three-year period, yet United’s latest figures exceeded that mark, with losses in excess of £250m.

Luckily, United were given a £4om Covid claim and an allowance for the costs incurred during Sir Jim’s purchase of shares from the Glazers.

Nevertheless, INEOS sport will not want to be in this position again and are looking to offload some players, in the hope of becoming more financially sustainable.

According to their former chief scout, United will look to sell Casemiro as early as the January transfer window.

Mick Brown told Football Insider that the 32-year-old will move to Saudi Arabia in January or summer 2025.

“I’m told they’ll look to cash in on him as soon as they can, on the 1st January if possible,” Brown revealed.

“He’s one of the biggest wage-earners and he’s not going to feature regularly in the first-team.”

Casemiro earns around £300k per week at United and is slowly being phased out of Erik ten Hag’s starting XI this season.

He has made six starts but is yet to start a Premier League game since his woeful first half performance in United’s 3-0 loss to Liverpool last month.

“He’s been benched because he hasn’t been performing and can’t do it any more,” Brown continued.

“I’m sure they would love to offload him if they could to get him out of the squad and off the wage bill, which would allow them to spend some money.”

“Whether it’s a move to Saudi Arabia or elsewhere, you’ve got to find someone who’s willing to pay the money both to United and to him.”

“They’re not going to make back anywhere near what they paid for him but they’ll look to bring in some money if they do let him go.”

After signing him for €70m (including add-ons) in 2022, United are unlikely to sell Casemiro for anywhere near this figure.

Transfermarkt value the Brazilian at only €15m, who appears to be slowing down with age as the sun sets on his career.
