Manchester United are now set to battle with Premier League rivals for an impressive new transfer target from Barcelona.

The Red Devils are looking to continue improving their squad, with Ruben Amorim set to take over as the next permanent manager next week.

The Portuguese manager secured Sporting Lisbon’s first league title in 19 years after joining the side, changing the club’s landscape.

Now, United’s executive board will be hoping that Amorim can do the same, with the recruitment team looking for options to fit into his dynamic style of play.

Whilst the United bosses are confident that the current squad can adapt to his 3-4-3 set-up, the club are still looking at potential options to target come January.

Already it’s known that United are looking at Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies and Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Rayan Ait-Nouri for the left-back role, with both men providing an attacking style that fits with Amorim’s play style.

However, now a new target is emerging from Barcelona, who’s recently experienced a massive increase in his transfer value.

Manchester United look to Marc Casado from Barcelona

Marc Casado is starting to make a name for himself at Barcelona after graduating from their youth academy and being promoted to the senior squad this year.

The 21-year-old is starting to establish his place in the starting XI under Hansi Flick, having made 13 appearances for the club so far, with five assists.

The defensive midfielder has put in a truly impressive run of performances which have helped Barcelona to hold their top spot in LaLiga and are currently sitting in 10th in the Champions League.

Now, CaughtOffside has reported that Premier League giants Liverpool are also looking to Casado to reinforce their midfield. It’s also been reported that Newcastle United are also scouting the young star.

However, the 21-year-old has recently experienced a massive spike in his transfer value thanks to his run of performances.

Back in the summer, Casado was valued at £2.1 million (€2.5 million), however, in only five months, his value has increased by 500% according to TransferMarkt, with Casado’s price tag now being £12.6 million (€15 million).

Barcelona are already in a strong position to negotiate with the star’s contract in place until 2028.
