Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United are expected to move fast and aggressively once the transfer window opens.

Following a strong push in the Europa League and the emergence of several first-team talents, Ineos are determined to add more depth and flair to Amorim’s system.

Matheus Cunha remains the priority target, with negotiations said to be in their final stages, but attention has now shifted to longer-term talent as well.

The Red Devils are not just thinking short-term — they are looking to snap up future stars before their value skyrockets.

And now a major opportunity has emerged from South America.

Reports from Argentina suggest that Manchester United have submitted a formal offer for 17-year-old sensation Franco Mastantuono.

The River Plate attacking midfielder has taken the Argentine top flight by storm this year, delivering four goals and two assists in just 13 appearances.

Known for his superb left foot, Franco Mastantuono recently scored a stunning free-kick winner against Boca Juniors, underlining his reputation as one of the brightest prospects in South American football.

According to Soy del Millo, United’s interest has progressed into an official bid, though River Plate are holding firm on the teenager’s £38 million release clause.

Manchester United will only be eligible to finalise a move once Franco Mastantuono turns 18 on August 14, and River’s general secretary Stefano Di Carlo has confirmed the player will stay in Buenos Aires until at least January.

That timeline won’t stop Europe’s giants from circling.

Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid are both heavily linked, making this a high-stakes race for the young playmaker’s signature, however United are reportedly frontrunners for the youngster.

The Red Devils have been down this path before — they tracked Enzo Fernandez closely before Benfica swooped in.

Now, they’ll hope history doesn’t repeat itself.

With Mastantuono averaging six duels won and three ball recoveries per game, plus strong dribbling and creative metrics, he fits perfectly into Amorim’s dynamic attacking system.

If United can pull off this deal, it would send a clear signal to rivals across Europe: Old Trafford is once again a destination for the world’s best young talents.
